Google Cloud OS Config provides operating-system management features for Compute Engine virtual machines, including patch management, compliance, and configuration policies. It is part of Google Cloud's VM management tooling for guest OS maintenance and reporting.
osconfig.googleapis.com exposes a Google Cloud OS Config HTTP API and corresponding `gcloud compute os-config` CLI commands; both require Google Cloud OAuth 2.0 credentials.

Authenticate to Google Cloud using Application Default Credentials or the Google Cloud CLI as described in Authenticate to Compute Engine. For local development, the easiest path is to run gcloud auth application-default login or gcloud auth login, then use the resulting OAuth 2.0 access token with the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform scope.
