IP2Location.io provides IP geolocation and related IP intelligence services, plus domain WHOIS and hosted-domain lookup APIs. It is used to look up location, network, proxy, and domain-registration information from IP addresses and domain names.
IP2Location.io exposes four developer HTTP APIs (IP geolocation, bulk geolocation, domain WHOIS, and hosted-domain lookup), plus a local CLI and a local MCP server; all use the same IP2Location.io API key, and the geolocation API additionally supports limited keyless access.

Free and trial plans issue an API key you can use with IP2Location.io, Bulk IP Geolocation, IP2WHOIS Domain WHOIS, Hosted Domain API, the CLI, and the MCP server. The docs consistently refer to this as your API key; for local tools, configure it with ip2locationio config {YOUR_API_KEY} or set IP2LOCATION_API_KEY where supported.
