$ carsxe login /$ carsxe config set-key

Sign in or create an account at CarsXE, then open the developer dashboard to copy or rotate your API key. Store it as CARSXE_API_KEY for local development and CI. This same key is used for the REST API as the key query parameter, the hosted MCP server as the X-API-Key header, and the carsxe CLI via carsxe config set-key, carsxe login, or CARSXE_API_KEY.

The same key authenticates the REST API (as the key query parameter), the MCP server (as the X-API-Key header), and the carsxe CLI.
